A logo, print copy, website design project in collaboration with Kate Stepman.
Kate's genuine passion for life embraces Cadiz culture and society with an energy and positivity none can match. With a talent for interior design, Kate has invested in 3 apartments in Cadiz and restored them carefully, by hand, with a view to renting them on a short or long term basis. Working closely with Kate on location, this is not only a website, logo, branding and print copy for Kate's new business, but a real celebration of this wonderful little place in the world; Cadiz de la Fronterra, Andalucia, Spain.
Stretching wide-screen in shifting columns and rows with soft fade transitions, I used textures and peeling paint effects from my own shot-for-purpose photography to combine the wonderfully old and aged-with-time facades and streets of Cadiz with the modernity and stylish interiors of Kate's apartments. Having photographed each apartment in turn these images were prepped to suit the website dimensions exactly. Note the feature images on each main menu page are half greyscale and half colour to add a touch of 'agedness' to the overall atmosphere. On the landing page, greyscale window imagery helps draw attention to the alternating featured apartments.
The website design is protectively embedded in every page but allows Kate, without having to enter 'admin mode', to post content all around the site. Kate can post blog stories on the 'About Kate' page, add new places to the 'Life in Cadiz' page, list testimonials, edit the introductions on each page and manage legal documents and other essential information. She has her own private, bespoke dashboard with front-end pasword secure access. Includes social network links, seo tagging, security and automatic backup. Fully responsive. Every image is lightweight, prepped specifically for online viewing. There is also facility for embedded videos, audio and google maps. Built on the Wordpress platform.
The logo and branding adds a touch of elegant 'French Hat Boutique' to the overall design. This is a new start-up so, working together with Kate, we selected the colour palette, fonts and overall style to achieve a brand identity that supports Kate's goals and helps her business stand out in her market sector.
